PRIMORDIAL SERPENT – FATHER OF THE ABYSS ( Review By Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Canadian Black Metal band Primordial Serpent’s EP “Father Of The Abyss”.

These four tracks of northern evil bring back the spirit of Canadian Raw Black Metal in the likes of Frozen Shadows, without any fear of applying musical concepts mostly attributed to Symphonic Black Metal in the likes of Limbonic Art, always giving them a rawer and colder than usual approach. This is especially apparent on the powerful title track.

Combining catchy riffs with energetic tempos and a definitely cold aura, this EP may appeal to fans of any raw and old-school kind of Black Metal. Nonetheless, the songs don’t really shine for much innovation, instead dwelling in linear and well explored ideas. However, some simple yet somewhat filling solos fill the void with some further atmosphere every now and then.

I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
