Today’s review is of Italian Heavy Doom Metal band Meursault Omega’s new album.
This nice and filthily (in a good way) recorded album brings to mind 80s pseudo Doom Metal bands such as Black Hole, although this release definitely has its own sound and personality. It also has touches of Gothic Metal, the most psychedelic side of Plasmatics (especially on “Sad Days In Alcolu”), Sludge and Stoner Metal all neatly wrapped up in an embrace of Progressive Rock.
Thanks to many flagrant special guests and their great performances, the album has catchy songs such as “I Thirst”, “Limerick Man” and “The End Is Near”. Coated in a curious and experimental kind of darkness, this unique release may appeal fans of any kind of occult rock and metal.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Doom Metal, Gothic Metal, Occult Rock, Sludge and Stoner Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
