Kalmo (cadaver in English) is a one-man metal band from Finland. Kalmo’s music is raw and dark doom metal spiced with a fistful of black metal. Lyrics written in Finnish tell tales and visions about the inevitable end of this all. Kalmo feasts on influences from old school metal bands like Celtic Frost, Slayer, Death Breath, Black Sabbath, and Master. Debut EP Demoni was released May 2019.
Artist description:
Before the dawn of Kalmo loomed in the horizon of the damned sky, Mika was a bass player in a blues band, writing lyrics to the band’s songs. About a decade ago an introit was sung and the seed of Kalmo was laid. The first song was ready. Several years passed with a flame steadily smouldering, scorching the darkened heart to vision a plan for more.
After finding a true name in Kalmo (cadaver in English), ominous visions of the inescapable doom have been falling into place in the darkness. There is only one mind, one lost soul in the core of Kalmo. The axes of doom guitars and bass are played and the dark cries are bawled by this man. The beat of doom is conjured up with the black magic of state-of-the-art, technical drumslade witchery.
The Debut EP Demoni was unleashed May 10th 2019. Demoni summarizes and concludes an episode in the Kalmo chronicles. Some of the EP’s songs are from very early years and some have been written within two years before the release. With this release, as a demonic rite of passage, Kalmo is hungry for more. New dark verses are being written. New evil psalms are being silently chanted in the darkness. The sinews of the sinister are gaining power. The doom will be inevitable.
In addition to the EP Demoni, Kalmo has released some singles and music videos. The videos are available at Kalmo’s YouTube channel.
Kalmo feasts on influences from true old school metal masters like Celtic Frost, Slayer, Death Breath, Black Sabbath, and Master. To add some more to the list, which could almost be endless, at least the names of Triptykon, King Diamond, Gallhammer, Hellhammer, Vorum, and Immortal must be spoken aloud.
At the moment the axes of doom spark the flames in the dark while the growling voice echoes from the walls of the deep dungeons. A new chapter of the book is soon ready. New songs are to be released soon.
The black crystal ball whispers of the tales of far future where there may be a slight possibility to complete the line up with fellow exhumated cadavers. That vision is still covered in dark mist and 6 feet of dirt. Should that hallucination incarnate, there may also be possibility to see Kalmo live.
