Today’s review is of American Atmospheric Black Metal band Grave Gnosis’ new album.
This release is really enveloping, and although for most listeners it may be too long to check out on a single play, the tracks have an odd darkness that may make it worth it. Recorded in a much rawer way than most albums of this subgenre, the resulting sound is pretty strange and for some may be uncomfortable, while fans of Raw Black Metal will be overcome with joy, especially thanks to the composition too.
These long songs have an original and hypnotic aura that remains constant throughout the multiple shifts in the music, giving the full-length a strong consistency. This release is very different to most Atmospheric Black Metal albums up to now, and their unique approach is interesting. My personal highlights are “Astovidat” and “Necrosophia”.
I recommend this album to fans of Atmospheric Black Metal and Raw Black Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10
