Today’s review is of Swedish Black Metal band Dodskold’s debut album.
These 7 tracks are really reminiscent of their country’s old-school Black Metal scene, especially of bands such as Dawn. Their flawless assault of classic obscurity is also drenched in epic atmospheres aided by clear vocals in the likes of Kampfar perhaps, adding thus some personal essence and definite nordic undertones.
Fans of classic and modern Black Metal alike may enjoy this release, although enjoyers of 90s inspired bands will find it more appealing. Of this impeccable release my personal highlights are “Sista Ridten” and “Myrkskogh”. Fans of Swedish Black Metal may like this album, but in general if you enjoy the whole Scandinavian scene you may love it. Darkness is certainly achieved as a main component of their music.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
