Today’s review is of Canadian Brutal Death Metal band Ashed’s album “Purgatorial Reign”.
This full-length channels the most average kind of Brutal Death Metal combined with bits of wretched Goregrind into a new vessel that contains the slightest amounts of Blackened Death Metal (which in some cases create interesting atmospheres), achieving thus the creation of 10 tracks of the most violent kind of Extreme Metal with a small trace of darkness.
Despite the combination of styles, this release doesn’t really stand out for its originality, instead sounding like almost any other modern Goregrind or Brutal Death Metal band. Nonetheless, the songs are decent and fans of aggressive, mindless and violent metal may enjoy them. My personal highlights are “Hydroponic Violence” and “Blurred Vision”.
I recommend this album to fans of Brutal Death Metal and Goregrind. My rating is of 7,5/10.
