Hi!
"Odyssey" is more dynamic than ever and is accompanied by guest musician Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Kamchatka) on keyboards. The new album is Vokonis' first true prog album, a record for the new decade. Following the success of Vokonis' critically acclaimed third album "Grasping Time" (2019), the band immediately set out to record more material. With the goal of further expanding the prog landscape in mind, Vokonis created recordings that are more dynamically diverse and forward-thinking than ever before. The result is "Odyssey."
The new album ranges from full-blown doom to melodic, blissful passages and features guest musician Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Kamchatka) on keyboards. With noticeable prog influences combined with standout choruses, the 6 tracks on "Odyssey" further explore the sound Vokonis introduced on 2019's "Grasping Time". Jonte's clean vocal lines are effectively blended with Simon's aggressive barking, creating a barrel-chested depth as the sound evolves from dreamy psychedelia to fist-melting sludge heaviness. The new tracks are supported by the rhythmic patterns of new drummer Peter Ottosson, who has proven to be a source of inspiration for the band since joining in early 2019. "Odyssey" was recorded in Studio Soundport, Sweden, by Mikael Andersson. It was mastered by Magnus Lindberg. The artwork for the album and singles was created by Kyrre Bjurling (Grasping Time, Olde One Ascending Reissue). Line-up: Simon Ohlsson - Guitar and Vocals Jonte Johansson - Bass and Vocals Peter Ottosson - Percussion - Drums |
