Today’s review is of Indonesian Atmospheric Black Metal band Vallendusk’s new album.
This album reminds me of 90s Black Metal, especially Satyricon, even though it has a pretty different musical direction that sometimes intertwines in melodic parts. Their own Atmospheric Black Metal also kind of reminds of Pure Wrath, although this album definitely has its own personality, perhaps even striding through paths of optimism untrodden by your average Black Metal band.
On this album, they have marched decisively through a path of innovation despite their clear old-school influences, achieving thus an interesting release that may be enjoyable if you want to listen to something of this subgenre, even though they are definitely unique and it may surprise the musical style’s fans. Thanks to their implementation of piano and acoustic guitar passages, the full-length also achieves a fluctuation in intensity that definitely adds some depth to it.
I recommend this album to fans of Atmospheric Black Metal and Melodic Black Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
