Today’s review is of Norwegian Black Metal band Taakeferd’s new album.
This release is truly a decent dose of pure Norwegian old-school Black Metal, with a really defined national style and a constant intensity in the likes of Gorgoroth, Kampfar, Vreid or other Norwegian bands.
Besides the aggressive and classic approach apparent in these songs, some tracks have a slight undertone of Rock n’ Roll in some riffs or solos (take for instance the title track or “A Moniker Of Time”) that really add some uniqueness and make the album all the more enjoyable to fans of classic Extreme Metal. Despite these influences, the album clearly has the usual darkness of their subgenre included, and as the album progresses, the songs seem to become darker and perhaps even ever so slightly atmospheric until a culminating end with “Sorger Over Sine”. Any fan of classic Norwegian Black Metal should enjoy this release.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal and Black n’ Roll. My rating is of 9/10.
