Today’s review is of International Experimental Black Metal band Sleepwalker’s latest album.
These 2 lengthy tracks adopt a really atmospheric concept that in some parts may even tend to ambient with hints of jazz, but every now and then there is a crescendo into obscure Black Metal that later fades back into their nightmarish music.
Even with the album’s mix there is some experimentation, with the main instrumentation really drowned under ambient sonorities to give a dream-like feeling of unsettling. While some riffs may remind of Voivod and other odd bands, a direct comparison is almost impossible to create, for this release is absolutely singular, and without multiple plays it’s hard to decide if you dig it.
I recommend this album to fans of Avant-Garde and Experimental Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
