Today’s review is of Spanish Melodic Heavy Metal band Rey Lobo’s debut album.
This album combines a slight edge of Heavy Metal with the softer approach of Melodic Hard Rock and deep (yet sometimes excessive in amount) passages of piano to give the release a Symphonic undertone.
The result is an album that fits perfectly with the pattern of Spanish Rock adding some complexity but not straying too much from the national formula. While some songs like “La Jauría Humana” are ok, in general the music lacks some amount of original identity that may possibly be developed in the future into something clearer if they continue in this direction. For now, though, this full-length is decent for a debut.
I recommend this album to fans of Melodic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.
