Sons of the icy winter of their native Monzón, Ouija were born from the ashes of Levial in 1995. They sold their souls to black metal leaving behind the death their previous band played, the Aragonese band became one of the pioneers of the style in Spain and with Riding Into The Funeral Paths (1997), they were also one of the first bands to release a black album in that country.
They split up shortly after, but after 10 years they returned to the activity, interspersing some breaks which allow them the opportunity to release more material and play, some of its members, in Spellcraft, their sister black band.
In 2013 they released their second album Ave Voluptatis Carnis, and already in 2020 there was another reunion to release new songs, although the pandemic delayed the work until the first months of this year.
Recorded and mixed by Xavier Esterri at Nomad Studio in Lleida (Spain) and mastered by Magnus Andersson at Endarker Studio in Sweden (Marduk, Ofermod, Funeral Mist, IXXI, Ragnarok...), Selenophile Impia is an EP totally anchored in the classicism expected from a band like Ouija, whom from the beginning coexists between wolves, loneliness and frost, sounding really Scandinavian, clear and cold, with the solvency that new acquisitions like Shogoth on bass (Ered, Onirophagus) or Labelua on drums (Apostles Of Perversion, With All My Hate, ex-Ered, ex-Atrexial, ex-Abrahel) can bring.
Topped by a cover by the great César Valladares and a layout by Calduch Studios, Selenophile Impia contains three songs that seem to have remained frozen since the longed-for 90’s, it is an ode to pure black metal free of intellectual ravings or absurd deviations. Here you will only find the invocations of Midgard of a lifetime, old school compositions and melodies capable of summoning demons.
