K.K. Downing talks about the style and sound of the album:
“People have always wanted me to release an album that reminds us of the past. How is the new album? Will it be similar to British Steel? Will you remember Sad Wings? '. People expect you to put out a record that you've already made. So in a way, this record sounds like something I've already done or should have done. It has many things that are connected to the past. For example, "Brothers Of The Road." If you remove all the lyrics and just listen to the music, maybe you could be listening to 'You've Got Another Thing Comin'.
From Les Binks and turn:
KK's PRIEST have plans to tour later this year playing some JUDAS PRIEST songs from the Ripper era, and with drummer Les Binks making sporadic appearances at some shows. This KK comments: “He was able to play a short concert at Steel Mill, but he had a wrist injury after that and was unable to record the album. But if you want to jump on stage and play a couple of songs, you're not going to be able to play a full set even though. He will be our special guest. "
K.K. Downing talks about metal idols who have passed away:
“We have lost a lot of great people, Dio, Lemmy, it could carry on, and that will accelerate in the next few years. Basically, I think you have to enjoy everything that is left of metal, even me. It will not last forever. "
Talk about some of the topics:
The first track from the album "Hellfire Thunderbolt" is a high-speed track that offers a fictitious vision of how metal came before the masses were ready for it, based on what was brewing in the late 1960s before exploding in The 70s and 80s. "Raise Your Fists" and "Wild And Free" will be enjoyed by the most enthusiastic rockers, they will delight in their passion. The guitar interaction is intense and inspiring, and the band is firing on all cylinders. "
"The Return Of The Sentinel" is a bold choice to close the album. It could be a sequel to the JUDAS PRIEST album song "Defenders Of The Faith," which went platinum in 1984. It's a nine-minute epic, with no rules. The first half is filled with poignant metal, and the second half is bleak and dim, reflecting the story of a being who, after being the dispenser of justice and death, now faces his own mortality.
For K.K. Downing, "Sermons of the Sinner" is not just a statement of intent, it is your very personal statement. His heavy metal journey is far from over.
K.K. Downing spent four months composing and recording Sermons Of The Sinner and, along with new ideas, even resurrected some archived riffs from the '80s. After partnering with Explorer1 Music Group, the album was originally slated for release a year ago, but with Covid pandemic launch and tour plans have been postponed. So Downing spent two more months tweaking the album how he wanted it. The extra time was worth it.
KK's PRIEST's new album ‘Sermons of the Sinner’ will be released on August 20, 2021.
Contains 10 new songs available on CD, vinyl with bonus CD, digital download and via streaming.
This comments K.K. Downing: “The concept is the fact that I proudly remain who I am and what I am and do what I do. Almost 10 years have passed. I'm back making music. "
K.K. Downing reunited with former JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim “Ripper” Owens, HOSTILE guitarist A.J. Mills, former VOODOO SIX bassist Tony Newton and DEATHRIDERS and CAGE drummer Sean Elg.
