FRAILTY – TUMSI UDENI (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Latvian Death Doom Metal band Frailty’s new album.

Adopting a sound similar to a really slowed down modern Paradise Lost drowned in a sea of death, this album has songs that adopt a pretty modern sound while still venerating old-school Doom Metal. Their combination of Melodic Doom also in the likes of Anathema with an almost Funeral Doom heaviness has bred an interesting result in the form of these 7 tracks of pure misery in their native language (something new for this band that seems to adjust pretty well with their style).

Thanks to a cavernous vocal performance arrayed in anguish, battering drums of slow torment and deep melodies that create a perfect harmony with their concepts, this album turns out to be a decent piece of doom and gloom that fans of anything soul-crushingly slow may love. My personal highlights are the title track and “Tukstos Balsis”.

I recommend this album to fans of Funeral Doom, Death Doom Metal and Melodic Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
