UPPER LIP – DEEP WITHIN ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Maltese Hard Rock band Upper Lip’s debut album, out on May 23rd.

This release is a real throwback to the 70s. These songs will make you remember the golden days of bands like Rush, AC/DC, The Smiths and especially Led Zeppelin.

With a unique voice that sounds pretty American and a really old-school instrumentation, this full-length has really sweet songs, such as “Eyes On Fire” or the title track. This 70s atmosphere of pure Hard Rock may sometimes (as on “What Makes You Smile”) even slightly remind of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The album is pretty diverse, with some songs that are heavier, others that are completely uplifting and also some nice ballads, so a whole listening is worth it.

I recommend this album to fans of 70s Hard Rock. My rating is of 9/10.
