INHERENTLY LOST – OUR LAST MIDNIGHT (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of American Melodic Black Metal band Inherently Lost’s debut EP.

This release has an odd mix that has left the guitars almost inexistent, drowned beneath the keyboards and vocals, but some of the songs, like “Requiem For The Lost”, seem to have a good use of this.

On the other hand, most of the album lacks some sort of cohesion, with the songs sounding more like a bunch of riffs stuck together than like actual tracks. Also, the vocal combination between male and female is a bit chaotic, with the intonations being completely independent to the melody being played, which has too little place for instrumental parts. Nonetheless, the sort of avant-garde feeling is sometimes curious, even though it should be perfected a little bit more to make a release worth checking out.

I recommend this album to fans of Melodic and Symphonic Black Metal. My rating is of 4/10.
