After five years of "Through The Dark", the spanish AOR project Heartbanger is back presenting the first single of what will be their second album, still without a release date. Meanwhile, to liven up the wait, some songs will be published, the first of which is entitled "Why".
The song, written by guitarist/composer Xavi Méndez, features some interesting collaborations.
Marc Quee is the guest vocalist. Of Swedish origin, Marc built a good reputation in the 80s leading great French bands such as Attentat Rock or Pink Rose. At present he is part of the Canarian band Esclavitud.
Luis Adonay is on bass, being the only musician of those featured in "Why", who had already participated with Xavi on the debut album. He is also a member of Esclavitud, as well as the new signing of soul singer Latonius.
As a drummer, Heartbanger has had the honor of having a top-notch session musician on this occasion. Toni Mateos is that man, popular in the world of melodic rock for having recorded "White", the second album by David Palau's Güru. In addition to that he has played on more than 300 albums, has 3 platinum albums and has recorded with some of the most important Spanish Pop artists, such as Alejandro Sanz, Antonio Orozco, Sergio Dalma and many more. He is also the drummer of the TV show "La Voz" (the Spanish version of The Voice).
The song has been mixed by Fabio Di Angelo, known for being the guitarist and songwriter for the band Dual Equation alongside Manu Esteve (Hardreams).
The mastering has been done by Göran Finnberg, a popular Swedish engineer who has worked on the latest Bad Habit works, as well as being behind countless albums by metal bands such as Hammerfall, Evergrey, Dream Evil, Dark Tranquility or Opeth among many others.
Heartbanger's style is still pure AOR 80's, much more AOR than in debut and much more 80's! This time the keyboards were provided by Xavi, in addition to the guitars as usual. "Why" is a good sample of what is to come… A catchy and melodic song recovering the old school spirit of the classics of the genre.
Stay tuned!
