Today’s review is of Canadian Heavy Metal band Antioch’s upcoming new album, out on May 14th.
This album has really clear influences of classics like Judas Priest, and curiously Alice Cooper (which gives an absolutely outstanding touch of Shock Rock to “On A Ledge” and “Demon Wick”), but mostly this release represents Canadian Metal at its best. This is pretty apparent with the shrieking vocal performance, but also on the slightly Speed Metal riffs like on “Hang The Eagle”. Overall a great comparison would also be with Razor.
This album has no fillers, only 5 pieces of perfectly crafted Heavy Metal at its best, and even with the 7-minute length of “A Façade At The Third Castle” every track would be great to hear anywhere and would definitely make them really famous in the 80s. This is a really good band that deserves some more attention, especially with the release of this gem.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and Speed Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
