SLAVES TO FASHION – THE HISTORY OF HEAVY METAL ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Norwegian Progressive Metal band Slaves To Fashion’s new album.

This album is a very ambitious project that attempts to depict 50 years of metal in 10 different songs. These tracks have a progression from the initial 70s sound of Black Sabbath or Deep Purple until the most modern kinds of Metal, going through Heavy Metal, Glam Metal, Thrash Metal, Extreme Metal, Power Metal, Nu Metal and all other sorts of subgenres, even changing the recording equipment between songs to fit better with the portrayed times.

This idea is very innovative and makes a curious and unpredictable mix that may bring some nostalgia for all the different periods that Metal has passed through, although some of the genres attempted may not have delivered songs as good as others. Nonetheless, this is a great idea and it takes much bravery to compose something like this.

I recommend this album to fans of basically any Metal genre. My rating is of 8,5/10.
