Today’s review is of International Heavy Metal band Miasma Theory’s upcoming debut self-titled album, out on April 23rd.
This band’s style is quite peculiar, it’s not any kind of common Heavy Metal. It seems to have some hints of early Doom Metal, but this classification isn’t too appropriate either, since their songs are somewhat more ethereal.
This album has a quite soothing sonority to it, but it has some heavier parts nonetheless. Also notably, there is a reimagined cover of Candlemass’ “Under The Oak”, which is not as good as the original, but is enjoyable despite that. In general, this release also leans perhaps to a more melodic side of Heavy Metal.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal and Doom Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
