Today’s review is of Mexican Thrash Death Metal band Hate Ritual’s debut album.
This albums mixes some of the classic rawness of early Sepultura and other extreme Thrash Metal bands with a kind of modern composition that doesn’t interfere with any of the aggressive components of their music. Some tracks like “Right By Might” or “Target Acquired” really get a good grasp of the violence that can be portrayed in Thrash Metal.
On the other hand, some songs like “Wastelands”, “Eyes Of Wonder” or “Bathe In Acid” take a different approach, adding a slower pace and even hints of Stoner Metal into the mix. These tracks seem like if Black Label Society were to play Thrash Death Metal, and the influence of that band on this album is proved with the last song being a heavy cover of “Suicide Messiah”.
I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Death Metal, Groove Metal and Stoner Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
