FOSSILIZATION – HE WHOSE NAME WAS LONG FORGOTTEN ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Brazilian Death Metal band Fossilization’s upcoming debut EP, out on April 2nd.

These 5 tracks are on offering of low-tuned, foul and cavernous Death Metal with a very occult side to it which brings it to bleak, dark atmospheres much more common in Black Metal. Thanks to slow riffs composed in a Death Doom manner combined with chaotic blasts, this EP will surely drag you deep below the ground to become fossilized beneath their oppressive soundscape.

These songs are definitely eerie in a way that makes the music hard to discern between the sounds while still leaving place for atmospheric passages like on “A Deplorable Epoch”, which are well combined with the mayhem of songs like “Blight Cathedral”. This EP may surely be one of the best Death Metal releases of the year so far.

I recommend this to fans of Death Metal, Black Death Metal and Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
