Today’s review is of Swedish Heavy Metal band Carnal Agony’s second album.
This release starts with powerful songs that lean towards Power Metal, especially with hints of Alestorm, Grave Digger and Running Wild. With this style, some songs remind of Pirate Metal, although I wouldn’t quite consider it that genre, even though some great songs from this album may fit in well with that classification, like the title track, “Luna” or “The Witching Hour”.
As the tracklist progresses, the style goes subtly changing, until it is almost purely Hard Rock, and although the change may be somewhat dazzling, there are some very good songs like “Werewolf Of Steel”, “Love Will Tear You Apart” or “Higher” with catchy choruses and structures that may remind you of Bon Jovi, but the composition is adapted to their personal touch, which one may even consider to include Gothic Rock hints. If you enjoy both styles that predominantly appear on the release, you may want to check it out.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal, Power Metal and Hard Rock. My rating is of 9/10.
