BLASPHEMATORY – DEPTHS OF THE OBSCURITY (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of American Death Metal band Blasphematory’s demo “Depths Of The Obscurity”.

This release sounds nothing like American Death Metal, instead leaning completely to the Swedish way to play this genre. More specifically, this reminds me of the early demos from bands like Nihilist or Treblinka. This demo also has touches from other great Swedish acts like Grave, and the result is a raw release of putrefaction at its finest.

Quite possibly this would be worse with a better recording quality, for like this it catches best the forgotten spirit of this kind of music. The songs I highlight are “Martyr’s Tears” and “The Old Book”, but the whole release is enjoyable. Hopefully more demos with similar composition and sound will follow this one.

I recommend this demo to fans of Swedish Death Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
