The alternative rock band Surt, has just released their new EP entitled "Inside" on all streaming platforms by the Latin American label Electric Funeral Records.
The new work is a manifesto that addresses themes and concerns related to a desire for freedom, breaking social bonds and also the eagerness to express feelings and thoughts fearlessly. The single “Insecure”, released in November 2020, has the lyrics of an experience of “gaslighting”, a term in English used to designate a form of psychological abuse suffered by women, in which the man distorts, omits or creates information , causing the woman to doubt herself, her feelings, her ability and sometimes even her sanity. Combined with the themes of the songs, the instrumental of the new EP makes clear the presence of new influences on the band's sound. Elements such as octave guitars, dancing riffs, synths and expressive backing vocals are some of the highlights that represent the new creative moment. Surt expresses through its new launch a search for versatility within its style, and intends to continue expanding the creative and sound possibilities in its next works.
The group formed by Dimitria Lins (vocals), Matheus Araújo (guitar), Alisson Dénis (bass), André Coelho (guitar) and Raone Ferreira (drums) is shaped by different aspects of rock, such as stoner and garage rock.
The band's second EP was recorded at Estúdio Pólvora (Recife), produced by Matheus Araújo (Surt) and Mathias Severien (Desalma), recorded and mixed by Mathias.
