Magik is the project that arises from the union of two musicians with extensive experience: the guitarist and producer Manolo Arias (Ñu, Niagara, Atlas, Arias - Barón Rojo, Iguana Tango, etc.) and the British vocalist Giles Keith Ramírez (HOT, Ghost, Reach). Although they have known each other for almost 30 years, to date, the opportunity to collaborate together had not arisen.
From this union was born the idea of publishing a cover a month, "12 months, 12 versions", under the title of "Covers In Isolation". In this way, they will offer us their particular vision of classics from the 60s and 70s, always under their personal prism, adapting it to their musical criteria.
The idea arises after the quarantine period, where Giles had been sharing some versions through RRSS. Precisely for that reason, the global pandemic, Arias had been forced to delay his debut film "No estoy para nadie" and he thought it was time to join forces under this series of classics that will be released month by month.
Manolo Arias analyzes the choice of the third theme for "Covers In Isolation", the well-known "Show Me The Way" by Peter Frampton:
“There are some songs that, in one way or another, become part of everyone's story. "Show Me The Way" is one of them. In my case it could be said that it was love at the first listen. He also discovered me one of the best guitarists I have heard in my life. "
For the occasion, MAGIK, have had the participation of the prestigious American vocalist Danny Vaughn who has appeared in bands such as: Waysted, Tyketto, Vaughn, Ultimate Eagles and Danny Vaughn's Myths, Legends & Lies.
Danny and Giles met in 1994 at the 02 Arena concert in London when their respective bands Tyketto and Ghost recorded Gods Of AOR for the MTV Headbangers Ball. Years later they meet again in Gibraltar, in a curious coincidence, where a great friendship arises that leads them to work together on the Harmony Street project, with which they undertake a small tour of Spain, as a duet, making acoustic versions of classics. When Giles and Arias decide to embark on MAGIK, Danny Vaughn's collaboration proposal immediately arises in this “Show Me The Way”.
MAGIK offer us their particular vision of this emblematic song. On the 45th anniversary of Frampton's worldwide success with "Show Me The Way," released in February 1976 as the lead single from his live album “Frampton Comes Alive!", The song reached number 6 on the Billboard.
