Today’s review is of the split between American Bestial Black Metal band Namtaru and Colombian Black Metal band Legio Inferi.
Namtaru’s side of the split starts with a sinister and Lovecraftian intro, that is followed with a brutal assault of simple and concise riffs that savagely crush the listener in a maelstrom of distortion. These songs are really raw and have a nice Finnish feeling to them, although perhaps the solos shriek too much with their sound and sort of ruin a bit the great atmosphere. Nonetheless, this side of the split is pretty nice to hear if you want something brutal.
On the other hand, Legio Inferi’s side has a more common Black Metal approach, with a similarly raw production but much less violent, instead dealing with a darker side of the music. Overall, this side is quite average Black Metal, with decent riffs and vocal performance but nothing too memorable.
I recommend this split to fans of Black Metal, Raw Black Metal and Bestial Black Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
