Today’s review is of American Black Metal band Deceiverion’s EP “The Separation”.
While the band conserves most of its essence from the initial releases, like of their self-titled, there seems to be a notable improvement in recording quality and especially lead guitar (the re-recorded version of “In The Name Of All That Is Heathen” is a big proof of this).
The songs are still very fast and aggressive, in a very classic Black Metal way that reminds of Marduk and thousands of other bands, but now there seems to also be some more atmospheric parts that give more depth to certain parts without losing the original concept. For instance, the solos in “Amongst The Nest Of Liars” and “Awaiting The Humanicide” give out different feelings without ruining the original old-school Black Metal concept inherent to the tracks.
I recommend this to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
