Today’s review is of American Industrial Metal band Machines On Blast’s new album.
While being somewhat excessive in length, this album displays a wide range of feelings. It starts pretty heavy and common for the style with interesting songs like “This Warm Embrace” or “Like Facts To The Slaughter” and an occasional Rob Zombie vibe to it, but the songs really escape the original idea. Instead, most tracks lean towards a lighter approach that seems more like modern American Heavy Metal, as if Five Finger Death Punch or Avenged Sevenfold had dark electronic ambiences behind their melodies. On other songs like “The Proclamation”, they also have a Rap Metal feeling to their concept.
Overall, the music lacks some of the monotonousness that makes the style so great, and perhaps the vocal pieces leave too little place for instrumentation, also breaking the characteristic sound of the genre. While the album is sort of original, it lacks some strength as to be an Industrial masterpiece due to an excessive escape from the roots.
I recommend this album to fans of Industrial Metal, Rap Metal and American Heavy Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.
