Today’s review is of Greek Heavy Metal band Snakeskin God’s debut self-titled album.
This album is a classic display of Heavy Metal that features the powerful vocals of the renowned Omen singer Nick “Migus” Antonogiannakis. Even though there are clear NWOBHM influences, these songs tend much more towards 70’s Heavy Metal in the style of Black Sabbath, Machine Head-era Deep Purple and Budgie. Perhaps the most notably old-school track may be “Tripping”.
This debut also features very good solos and riffs that with another drum pattern and different vocals could perfectly be included in a Stoner Rock album, but that with the band’s personal style are transformed into a more Hard Rock performance. The album is pretty solid and fun and has numerous good songs, like “Booze & Roll” or “Tough Love”.
I recommend this album to fans of 70’s Heavy Metal, Stoner Rock, Hard Rock and NWOBHM. My rating is of 9/10.
