Today’s review is of Russian Black Folk Metal band Sibireal’s debut album.
Starting off with a curious folk intro that shifts into the title track, this band includes elements of Thrash Metal, but you couldn’t really consider it Black Thrash, since these hints may be too subtle.
Instead, the music takes a dark and chaotic Folk Metal approach full of atmospheric parts yet also violence that combined with the interesting riffs that are played would be pretty interesting, but an abuse of parts with vocals really ruins the feeling of the album. The voice is pretty unique, but it should’ve let more parts for instrumentality, since in most parts it’s even implemented in an illogical way.
Overall, the album sounds like if some thrashers met Mayhem in a tundra and were attacked by some indigenous tribe, and this is a great concept, but it isn’t completely well displayed and with some slight changes the music would be much more enjoyable. Nonetheless, the band may become pretty decent with some improvements.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Folk Metal and Atmospheric Black Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.
