Having abandoned almost completely their original Speed Metal sound but still conserving some traces, on this album you can appreciate almost pure Heavy Metal.
Opening the album with perfectly the best song of the whole (Sacred Slaughter), you get fully immersed into this sonic masterpiece plagued with catchy choruses and lengthy solos. The musical style is really similar to Grave Digger (most notably on the vocals), especially on songs like “Descend” or “Demons”, you also get strong hints of Trujillo-era Accept on songs like “What We’re Living For” and “Bridges Are Burning” and even of Merciful Fate on the title track. Overall, the style is also very personal and characteristic of a well matured band who are back on the scene ready to display more of their praised talent, which becomes apparent on “Sands Of Time”.
I recommend this album to fans of German Heavy Metal, Speed Metal and maybe even Thrash Metal. This is clearly the best Heavy Metal release of the year with no apparent contender. A solid 9,5/10.
