CEREMONIAL BLOODBATH – THE TIDES OF BLOOD ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Canadian Death Metal band Ceremonial Bloodbath’s debut album, out on October 23rd.
While being mostly a blunt display of cavernous Death Metal and War Metal like on songs like “The Throat Of Belial”, their ability to show violence in its most gory way possible transcends these barriers, and it gets mixed with slower yet equally or even more intense parts like in “Primitive”, which bring us heavy reminders of “Mortal Throne Of Nazarene”-era Incantation. With this mix they are also able to produce longer songs that span up to 7 or 8 minutes like on “Seven Wells” which are also as aggressive as Profanatica and dark and deep as the most occult Death Doom metal band.
All of this is also achieved thanks to an interesting voice shrouded by effects that make it indiscernible unto the lowermost depraved extreme, and combining this with the great distortion and simple yet cunning drums brings you this album, a dark display of excessive violent.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, Death Doom and War Metal.
