As all of their latest albums, this one also includes a heavy amount of parts of electronic music combined with the metal parts, and it seems that they have embraced the electronic part even more now.
Behind this sound though, there are sometimes some beautiful Black Metal riffs that makes this very similar to the split “Emperor vs. Thorns”, but with more Avant-Garde to it and a voice that isn’t so good. There are also parts that seem like Prog Rock or some that remind more of System Of A Down. Overall a strange mix indeed, especially when there are sometimes some very epic parts that suddenly turn into electronic music and then into metal once again.
This band is very unique in its weirdness, a perfect definition of their musical genre. It looks like each album they make is stranger than the last, and this one is no exception.
I recommend this album if you enjoy Avant-Garde Metal, Industrial Black Metal or Trip-Hop, but maybe the album may be too long to listen whole if you’re not into the band, so some songs I would highlight are “Spiritual Anarchism” and “The Sleep System”.
