This band plays a very pure strain of Black Metal, with all of its original grimness. Their style is similar to Salle Freux, that also make music with the purity of the genre, and not the avant-garde approach so typical to France in bands like Blut Aus Nord or Deathspell Omega.
This album is similar to their previous ones, filled with dark acoustic pieces and some occasional female vocals combined with the male ones while also including completely instrumental songs like the title track. The guitar-work for this full-length is incredible, as portrayed in some occasional solo, but they make sure to not do the music as a way to show of how well they play, but instead sacrificing unnecessary technicality to gain a better atmosphere. Their chilling sound is also reached slightly differently on the last track, “Ashes”, which is more calm and interesting for one song yet not for a whole album.
This album is for the fans of true underground Black Metal, and it may even be one of the best releases of the year of the old-school branch of the genre, although you may have to hear it multiple times to fully appreciate it. Definitely worth listening on a cold stormy night.
