Fabio “Also this time Pietro wrote all the songs as always, troubles dwelled especially for the most tough to be performed like “Leals”, “Perturb” and “Dogmatician”, also for the drums patterns. In my opinion, only “Pamphlet” was out of tune form the tracklist, but our opinion is that “Deheadment” is our masterpiece so far! For the titletrack we tried to use some effects, but our label rejected that version to avoid copyright troubles, infringements and so on!”.
What has inspired the lyrics of the album?
Fabio “My hate for the Christians! Have you seen the artwork? I wrote “Provvid” which was close to “Palpation” and “Libidinal” from the previous records, about molestations in the Church! The rest is about Satan, as always! That’s what moves our lyrics up!”.
What does the album cover represent in relation with the music?
Fabio “It’s a torture against all the believers of God! The concept was mine and Pietro’s, and Andreas Marschall did the job! The serpents are the evil upon humanity, the demons rack the Christians in a sort of final clash! I can figure out it like a sort of vengeance, retribution or punishment against their lord!”.
Do you feel like the band has improved with the incorporation of new guitarist Manuel Casella?
Fabio “Surely! He and Pietro are the best guitarists we ever had since 1999! Manuel is very talented, he teaches guitar and he is also very skilled, both with the solos and for the rhythmic! We can only improve with him after almost two years he has joined us! Together, they will write incredible pages for Lectern for all the records to come for the band, I’m sure! We are about to begin the songwriting for something new, so I will test their skill”.
How do you think the band has evolved since its beginning?
Fabio “Well, I never thought about that, you know? It’s the first time someone ever put me before that point, but what I can say is that “Deheadment” is the peak of our career until now! Very twisting riffs have been wrote as never before, so I guess they foresee in a certain way the next record”.
Which are the main influences of the band?
Fabio “I will be clear in only one word: death fucking metal! I said many times we approached all about related to the United States style, especially the 90’s! Maybe we maintain the black metal and thrash side too with some innovations, that’s very cool in a death metal outfit!”.
Which has been the best concert you think the band has done?
Fabio “I don’t really know, might be with Incantation also for the importance of such band! It was a blast, believe me!”.
Do you hope to be able to perform live soon?
Fabio “Yes, but before the fans and an audience in their whole thing, as they deserve things as they used to be! No one still actually knows which situation we’ll face, about venues, tours and all about that! We are not gonna have any fucking streaming shows if that’s you want to know, and anything related to that stupid shit! We will have only standard gigs, if possible as everything will be back as it was meant to be but it won’t be shortly I think!”.
When do you think you'll release new music?
Fabio “Who knows? I mean I don’t know when and if we have new songs, partial riffs or whatever! Next time will be special to release an album, not only for the songwriting itself! New life approaches and is waiting!”.

BIOGRAPHY
Lectern was formed in 1999 with the intent of playing, old school brutal death metal with satanic lyrics.
The band comes from Rome, Italy. The inspiration came, within all the bands from United States, especially
based in Tampa, Florida. As the 90's were ending, and with the them the interest in death metal, Lectern tried since the very beginning of composing the music its member were up to listen to. The first studio effort came out in a bunch of months, with different musicians from many bands involved to that project. Gigs were made, but the interest in labels and promoters, was focused on other genres, and no more on death metal. Fabio Bava remained in the band, trying to recruit new musicians
or sessionmen. Only in 2008 and then in 2009 the interest in Lectern grew up once again, also with a good live activity. So, in March 2010 the band entered Temple Of Noise studio, for recording Salvific Of Perhaps Lambent printed in Czech Republic by Gz Media. As three members left, in 2010 a new line up was built up again, also for the songwriting of new tracks. One year later, at the end of 2011 all crushed down again, but many concerts were made with other players, to face the duties with venues for commitments already agreed. Enrico Romano joined permanently the band in February 2012, actively participating in the reconstruction, which became effective in 2013 with the recruting of Marco Valentine on the drums, and of Pietro Sabato on the second guitar. After rehearsing, in January 2014 a new self entitled ep of three songs, was issued, and released with a concert in Finland at Helsinki at Prkl Club in February. The songwriting process of songs for a new album is in act, within the live activity. In October the band entered Outer Sound Studios, produced by Giuseppe Orlando for the new album Fratricidal Concelebration printed by Sliptrick Records, and distributed worldwide. At the beginning of January 2015 Enrico Romano and Lectern went parting of the ways, the second guitarist Fabio Mariantoni entered the band in March. In July, Lectern opened for Angra and Sepultura. Fabio Mariantoni left the band in January 2016. Lectern opened for Incantation in April during their European tour, supported by Skinned also from United States. Fabio Mariantoni left the band in January 2016. In April, the band opened for Incantation at Riga, in Latvia, for their European tour. In June was time for a new record, so Lectern hit The Outer Sound Studios. September was the month that Gabriele Cruz joined the band on the other guitar role, and Lectern returned as a four elements band.In March 2017 the band partook the Deadly Storm festival in Brazov, in Czech Republic. In May Lectern played at Helsinki Death Fest, in September headlined Rometal. In November, the band entered The Outer Sound Studios for the preproduction of a new album. In December the band opened for supporting Archgoat, and the recording sessions for the new album began. Between January and February 2018, studio sessions were resumed and complete. Deheadment For Betrayal was released in April by Via Nocturna. Lectern embarked for an European tour with Anal Vomit, between June and July. In July Gabriele Cruz left Lectern. In October, Lectern opened in Rome for Spanish death metal gods Avulsed. In November, Lectern opened for Mystifier. In December, Manuel Casella became the new guitarist of the band.
