♠ MERCENARIOS ♠ was formed in Barcelona by the singer Carlos Esteras
after the dissolution of the band "Escalera de Color" in July 2000.
After several sessions and entries and exits of musicians in the band,
the vocalist did not see it clearly and finally he would end up just
dedicating himself to composing. But it was not until mid-2007 that he
met a concert with his good friend, guitarist Marc Martorell (ex-Transilvania)
and bassist Lukhas Khomunyas (ex-Achtung) and proposed to them to be part
of the project, Carlos already had enough composite material and Both Marc
and Lukhas knew the singer's musical work and accepted his proposal. Only
the rhythmic base was missing and they contacted Tony Metal (ex-Chainsaws)
who joined the project, not only as a drummer but also as a producer. With
the entire band rehearsals began and in October of that year they entered
the "Black Rhino" studios. As soon as Lukhas recorded the album, he would
leave the group to start another project and his place would be occupied by
an old friend of the singer, Manu Reno (ex-Vollband).
In late March 2008 the project came to light with a fast, hard and forceful
Rock & Roll loaded album called ... ♠ MERCENARIOS ♠.
They would do several concerts presenting the album, among which songs such
as “Rock and God”, the ballad “While you slept” and the banner song “Mercenaries”
of which they would record from a video clip would stand out. All this would last
a very short time, so Mercenaries would end up separating.
After a while Carlos Esteras begins to reunite the band again, gets back in contact
with Marc Martorell and they start looking for the musicians who fit in to complete
the training. It will not be until 2014 and after an odyssey of auditions they manag
e to enlist the remaining members to complete the band.
Firstly, bassist José Templado (ex-Sergeant Rock) would join the formation and soon
after, drummer Robert Cat (ex-Irthangaz). But the line of work is not as expected and
the band would dissolve again, to which Carlos Esteras decides to completely renew the
formation.
At the end of 2017, after several tests on musicians, Jose Tavero joined the solo
guitar. Excellent guitarist to belonged to bands like "Blackouters" and "Lost Oxymoron".
Next will be Iván Tenaz (ex-Soulless) as drummer, forceful with the heavy artillery he
gets fully into the project. And finally bassist Oscar Krasher, a four-string virtuoso
will complete the lineup. After a list of concerts during 2018 presenting the new line-up,
in January of the following year they recorded a new album loaded with pure Rock & Roll-Metal
and with a motorcycle theme called “Barcelona R&R”.
At the end of 2019 Oscar Krasher leaves the band and is replaced by Javier Barrecha (ex-Manzano)
, with the new lineout in full they begin to compose new material for the next album. At the
beginning of 2020 they will present the new formation in Barcelona. ♠♠♠♠ THE MERCENARIES ARE BACK !!! ♠♠♠♠
